Renaissance at North Colorado Station Awarded Housing Colorado’s Eagle Award

At this year’s 29th annual Housing NOW! Conference hosted by Housing Colorado, ULC’s first purchase in Northeast Park Hill was recognized with an Eagle Award. What was once an old Budget Motel at the intersection of 40th and Colorado is now the Renaissance at North Colorado Station apartments, constructed by Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH) in 2015. The 103 units of affordable housing include 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units, with 26 units specifically reserved for homeless veterans.

The transit-oriented development is located less than a quarter mile from RTD’s Colorado Station on the A line, and just blocks from a high frequency bus route. The development won the People’s Choice Eagle Award, and was specifically recognized for its close proximity to public transit, as well as its “supportive services to reduce social service and emergency related costs.”

ULC played a critical role in the successful development of the Renaissance apartments, purchasing the site in 2006. CCH then partnered with ULC, leasing the Budget Motel to provide transitional housing to those experiencing homelessness. ULC sold the site to CCH in 2012, who immediately began development plans to construct what is now the Renaissance at North Colorado Station. Congratulations to all the organizations who played a role  in the development of this critical community asset!
