While residents of Denver’s first tiny home community for those experiencing homelessness officially opened it’s doors in late July, the community hosted a grand opening ceremony on Saturday (August 12th). The community, which is home to 11 tiny houses, a kitchen, shower facilities, restrooms and a community garden, is the first of its kind in Denver.

Cole Chandler of Beloved Community Mennonite Church, a significant force behind the development’s completion, read off a lengthy thank you list during the grand opening – proof that this project truly took a village. That “village” is known as Colorado Village Collaborative (CVC), a group of organizations who spent countless hours turning their vision into a reality.

The community, which sits at the corner of 38th and Walnut in the RiNo neighborhood, was given a 180 day permit by the city. Future locations for the tiny homes are currently unknown, but they were designed to be fully transportable and moved to new locations when needed.
