Affordable Housing Grand Opening at Mile High Vista
Yesterday evening, Urban Land Conservancy’s development partners, Del Norte Neighborhood Development Corporation, celebrated the grand opening of The Avondale Apartments at Mile High Vista. The 7-story apartment building boasts 80 units including 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments. The complex is entirely workforce and affordable housing with all units set aside for families falling below 60% Average Median Income.
Avondale is located ¼ mile from two RTD West Rail Line stations, Knox and Decatur-Federal, and on the same block as two high frequency bus stops making it a transit-oriented development. The site is also within a 1.5 miles of 1 elementary school, 4 high schools, 3 colleges, and several after-school programs. Not only is the location prime, but the building will also receive LEED certification. The only thing that could to top that all that is the beautiful view to the west, north, and east!
The completion of the apartments marks the end of the first of three phases at the site. The next completion phase will be the West Denver Public Library scheduled to open in January 2015 and the final phase will include a commercial center with affordable space. Del Norte’s commitment to address low-income housing needs and create economic development opportunities in Denver is exceptional. We are delighted to celebrate this important milestone with them!
The building will also have 3 commercial tenants including: Del Norte, Studio Completiva (the architecture firm who designed the building), and a childcare center. Residential and commercial tenants are expected to move in beginning this fall.
