ULC kicked off the 303 ArtWay Bike Giveaway Event last Friday at the Jack A. Vickers Boys & Girls Club in Northeast Park Hill.  This was the first of several bike giveaway events to be held throughout 2017. At each event, one custom-designed 303 ArtWay cruiser bike will be raffled off. These bikes are intended to help increase public awareness and further create excitement in the community around the future pedestrian and bike friendly urban trail proposed for NE Denver.

The urban trail is envisioned to be a nine mile loop starting and ending at the RTD 40th & Colorado Rail Station, and winding through Greater Park Hill, Elyria-Swansea and the Cole communities, as well as touching five other neighborhoods.  The theme of the 303 ArtWay is “Art. Health. Heritage.”

The winner of Friday night’s free bike was a very worthy recipient, and a well known member of the NE Park Hill community. Jason Torrez, the Executive Director of the Jack A. Vickers Boys & Girls Club said that Johnson regularly visits the club and participates in weekly community service.

“Eric has been volunteering to come here since the food pantry program began over two years ago,” Torrez said. “Every Friday afternoon and into the evening he is here setting the food up in the lobby and helping neighborhood residents get what they need.”
