In January 2018, Shift Research Lab – in partnership with Phyllis Resnick, PhD, released a report detailing the many factors that contribute to Colorado’s housing crisis. The report, Exploring Colorado’s Housing Affordability Challenges in All of Their Complexity, explains that the cause is primarily a supply issue.

According to the report, “with housing representing, on average, 35 percent of spending for households earning $50,000 or less, housing unaffordability is becoming the most significant threat to family economic security in Colorado.”

To learn more, you can find the report here. You can also read a detailed article by The Denver Post highlighting research from the report along with local stories of Coloradoans affected by the lack of housing options.
