ULC’s Senior VP of Real Estate, Debra Bustos, Featured in Multifamily Properties Quarterly
Debra Bustos, Urban Land Conservancy’s (ULC) Senior Vice President of Real Estate, was featured in the March edition of Multifamily Properties Quarterly. Written by Alana Romans, ULC’s Communications and Special Projects Manager, the article chronicles Bustos’ remarkable work in the world of affordable real estate. With a career spanning over 30 years, Bustos’ accomplishments and accolades are a testament to her relentless dedication to her work.
Career overview: Early in her career, Bustos managed a revolving loan fund providing financial assistance for homeowners rehabilitating their property. While serving as the Director of Administration at Rocky Mountain Mutual Housing Association, she oversaw the creation, development and preservation of more than 1,000 units of affordable housing. Bustos also worked for Urban Peak, a nonprofit providing housing for homeless youth. Following her tenure with Urban Peak, Bustos worked as a CRA Office at JP Morgan and Chase, where she created a Foreclosure Prevention Task Force and Hotline in partnership with Kathi Williams, the former Executive Director of Colorado’s Division of Housing.
After receiving a full-ride scholarship to the University of Denver’s Women’s College, Bustos applied for ULC’s Director of Real Estate position. Throughout her tenure at ULC, Bustos’ impact on her native city has only grown. In November and December of 2018, Bustos was instrumental in the acquisition of four properties in four different municipalities in the metro area. ULC has led to the preservation and develoment of more than 1,250 units of affordable housing, and over 700,000 square feet of nonprofit facility space. Much of this is largely due to the leadership of Bustos. ULC would like to thank Roger Hara and Multifamily Properties Quarterly for featuring a true expert in affordable housing development. We also want to extend our continued thanks to Debra Bustos for her amazing work and unwavering dedication towards increasing affordability throughout the Denver metro region.
