“What Roots will contribute to this community is so necessary, so promising and so consistent with the mission of ULC,” says Tony Pickett, ULC Vice President of Master Site Development. “Creating an outstanding campus for children unlike any other, fulfills our long standing commitment to revitalizing Holly Square as a place of pride for Northeast Park Hill.”
This new school will make Holly Square a “children’s campus” where various educational programming opportunities will be available for kids of all ages. Thanks to the amazing assets that currently exist around the site including The Hope Center, Hiawatha Davis Recreation Center, Vickers Boys & Girls Club and the Pauline Robinson library, Roots Elementary will compliment the many wonderful programs already serving youth in this passionate neighborhood.
Roots is a public charter school with a focus on technology, individualization and the innovative use of time to provide high-quality educational outcomes. Chartered by Denver Public Schools, Roots will open in fall 2015 with 100 kindergarten and first-graders in temporary quarters at Holly Square.
