Urban Land Conservancy is hiring a Vice President of Impact and Engagement.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Job Title:  Vice President of Impact & Engagement  FTE:  Full Time, 37.5 hrs/wk
Reports to:  President & CEO  FLSA Designation:  Exempt – Salary

 

SUMMARY 

The Vice President of Impact & Engagement supports the mission of Urban Land Conservancy (ULC) by  connecting to the communities we serve, conducting ongoing and in-depth analysis and measurement of  the outcomes of ULC’s investments and management of properties, and effectively crafts and  communicates ULC’s story internally to staff, Board, the communities we serve, stakeholders, media, and  the public. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

The VP of Impact & Engagement works collaboratively as an integral part of ULC’s Leadership team and is  responsible for measuring, strengthening, and communicating ULC’s impacts. The role performs a wide  range of duties including, but not limited to: 

Community and Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Learn the history, challenges, opportunities, needs and strengths of each community in which ULC  is invested 
  • Catalyze community connections, engagement and partnerships to ensure that ULC’s investments  are informed by the voices of key neighborhood stakeholders, with an emphasis on leadership by  diverse and traditionally marginalized communities 
  • Lead strategic community engagement efforts and activities to support development, finance,  public policy, and capital projects. 

Impact Measurement and Reporting  

  • Understand ULC’s history and past impact (as demonstrated through previous impact reports);  learn and communicate ULC’s current approach, tools, and impact; identify key performance  indicators and goals to inform ULC’s future impact in real estate, assets, finance, operations, and  community engagement 
  • Lead the organization in measuring outcomes of investments, partnerships, and performance; and  proactively raise opportunity for mid-course corrections to the attention of relevant ULC teams and  leadership 
  • Conduct thorough and ongoing analysis of ULC’s impacts through surveys, focus groups, statistical  analysis, and qualitative and quantitative research 
  • Develop, maintain, and publish a dashboard that details ULC’s ongoing impact to include tactics,  goals, and KPIs detailed in ULC’s three-year strategic plan 

Relationship Management 

  • Identify, connect, and develop relationships with strategic partners that will advance ULC’s mission  to include local, state, and federal government entities, philanthropists, foundations, nonprofit  organizations, for-profit businesses, etc. 
  • Work as an internal/external connector to support new and deepening relationships across all ULC  staff 
  • Identify and develop opportunities to expand ULC’s fundraising and donor campaigns
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to ensure the ULC Leadership Team, Board, staff, and  partners are aligned with ULC’s strategic plan  
  • Produce compelling and informed narratives for grant and funding applications 
  • Oversee and manage grant reporting metrics and narratives

Communications 

  • Provide oversight to develop and execute strategic communication plans that link outcomes of  ULC’s work to staff, board, stakeholders, media, and the public 
  • Develop and communicate compelling and approachable stories of ULC’s success and impact to  stakeholders, media, staff, and the public 
  • Understand and effectively communicate ULC’s values, strategic goals, public policy priorities,  successes, expertise, tools, and impacts 
  • Serve as a spokesperson for ULC, representing the organization with credibility, professionalism,  compassion, and enthusiasm; coach other key ULC staff in media relations and interview strategy
  • Oversee and manage ULC’s communications staff, as well as communications and public relations  contractors  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & VALUES (KSAVs) 

A successful candidate will, at a minimum possess the following: 

  • Advanced knowledge of research-based analytic practices and deep understanding of local and  national issues and trends and best practice strategies, including the application of equity lens and  use of community data for impact. 
  • Advanced knowledge of modern media campaign strategies 
  • Advanced knowledge of housing issues in the Denver-Metro area 
  • Advanced skill in program impact measurement 
  • Expert skill in interpersonal communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Expert skill in storytelling and crafting a compelling narrative of organizational outcomes
  • Advanced ability to lead, inspire and mobilize people around a complex set of challenges
  • Expert ability to work both independently and as part of a team 
  • Expert ability to manage multiple projects, relationships and tasks simultaneously while adapting to  shifting priorities and deadlines. 
  • Ability to be insured by ULC’s insurance policy to operate a vehicle for company business
  • Alignment with ULC values concerning the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion and ULC’s  commitment to maintain an anti-racist workplace 
  • Alignment with ULC values concerning the importance of environmental stewardship and  sustainability 
  • Alignment with ULC values concerning the importance of protecting public health, including the  importance of vaccination regarding the COVID-19 pandemic 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This position requires: 

  • Frequently required to be in a stationary position during scheduled work hours.
  •  Frequently required to stand, walk, and be exposed to outside weather conditions including the  potential of needing to access active construction sites at all stages of development. 
  • Frequently use personal protective equipment as required by OSHA and construction site protocols 
  • Frequently attend ULC events, community and government meetings, and real estate sites outside  normal business hours. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

A combination of education and experience may be considered: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, urban planning, communications, public  policy, political science or related field. Master’s degree preferred.  
  • Overall, 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector preferred. 
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in the Duties and KSAV’s listed above, eight preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must pass a background check 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable to operate a vehicle for work
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and demonstrate a good work ethic 

COMPENSATION 

  • Salary range is $115,000 – $130,000 per year, and is commensurate with experience
  • 37.5-hour work week with options for alternative work schedules 
  • Bi-weekly pay 
  • Additional Benefits: 

o Health Insurance – two plans available, with employee contribution 

o Dental and Vision insurance, 100% paid by employer 

o Life, AD&D, Short- and Long-term disability insurance 

o 401(k) after six months; 7% employer contribution (no match currently required) o Paid Time Off accrual, plus ten paid holidays
