Experts from Seattle Present on Tiny Homes
On Monday, January 25, The Denver Foundation hosted a discussion on tiny houses as temporary shelter for the homeless community. Two experts from Seattle, Sharon Lee of LIHI (Low Income Housing Institute) and Jarvis Capucion of SHARE (Seattle Housing and Resource Effort) spoke about their two nonprofits working together with the faith community and local governments to address the homeless crisis in the Seattle region. LIHI and SHARE have been working together on tent cities for the homeless and the recent opening of two temporary tiny house communities in Seattle. The one room Tiny House is the next step for some homeless residents moving out of tent city. The 40 attendees at the Denver Foundation included homeless advocates, local and state agencies, foundations, and nonprofit housing providers.
