ULC Celebrates Earth Day With Northeast Denver Community
ULC celebrated 2014 Earth Day at the Dahlia Apartments in Northeast Park Hill. Residents of the apartments came out to help construct two raised bed gardens that will produce a variety of fresh vegetables this summer! It was a beautiful day for gardening, and ULC was delighted to share this experience with the folks who will enjoy this new community garden. Check out this video showcasing all the green thumbs at work today!
The two gardens this morning were planted with vegetables such as radishes, greens, brussel sprouts and broccoli. Along with the gardens, 3 picnic tables constructed by ULC’s partner Colorado Construction Institute, were delivered to the site for residents to enjoy now that spring has sprung.
The morning was exciting given the residents enthusiasm for the garden, one resident and her children were so excited about the gardens being installed that they had purchased a cabbage plant to contribute to the garden. It was a beautiful morning to celebrate Earth Day, we can’t wait to see the seeds begin to sprout.
