ULC has been working diligently with the community, working through a tragic incident that occurred on September 20, 2013.  The shooting that occurred at Holly Square, left one adult is in critical condition.  This news has really been difficult for the community, the Holly Area Redevelopment Project (HARP) and ULC.  HARP is a collaborative of residents, businesses (including ULC), and community organizations focused on the redevelopment of the former shopping center, Holly Square, and the surrounding area.

We have spent many many hours talking with community stakeholders, neighbors and anti gang leaders about what happened and next steps and would like to thank everyone that attended the wonderful BBQ on Wednesday evening, September 25th at Holly Square.  Over 300 people came together to celebrate their community and all of the wonderful improvements that have occurred.

While the details of the tragedy at Holly Square are still unknown, we don’t want the community to forget the positive impact and many accomplishments that HARP has created at the site.  It is important that this incident not detract from the progress the community has made and HARP will continue to make going forward.  ULC is steadfast in our commitment to strengthen the community through our work with HARP.
