ULC attended the two-day conference to present on the panel, “Best Practices: Zoning for Revitalization Without Displacement” at the National Press Club in Washington D.C on Monday. Aaron specifically spoke towards the use of community land trusts (CLTs) at transit oriented developments as a method to mitigate displacement. During his presentation, Aaron explained the need in Denver to increase public policy around owning the land to ensure permanent affordability. To date, ULC has five properties within our Denver-based community land trust, ranging from schools to affordable housing.
It was an honor to present alongside former Maryland Governor Paris Glendening and Arlington County Commissioner Chris Zimmerman (both members of Smart Growth America) to speak on the interconnection of development with TOD and showcase examples of how to bring affordable housing to these sites. Thank you to Smart Growth America for including us in this years LOCUS Summit! It was a honor to sit alongside key figures including Gov. Glendening and Commission Zimmerman who are both taking critical steps towards building equitable and sustainable cities across the country. We hope to see you next year!
