This year, Grounded Solutions held its annual Intersections Conference in Oakland, California. The conference, which took place from October 9 – 13 set out to explore how to create inclusive and equitable communities through decisive policy and action.  Three ULC members attended the conference, including President & CEO – Aaron Miripol, VP of Master Site Development – Tony Pickett and Director of Accounting & HR – Trisha Wolfe.

Each agreed that this year’s conference – which welcomed over 500 guests from across the nation – was a huge success. ULC was also nominated by Grounded Solutions for the IGNITE! Pitch Fest due to our work at 38th & Walnut. In partnership with Radian, we presented on the Beloved Community tiny home village that sits on a parcel of ULC’s land as an innovative way to temporarily utilize vacant space for short term use. The land will soon be added to our growing community land trust to ensure permanent affordability for future generations.

Earlier this month, ULC announced our partnership with Medici Consulting Group (MCG) to build 65 units of affordable housing at the corner of 38th and Walnut. We will sell the building rights to MCG, but continue to own the land under a 99 year ground lease, adding a fifth property to our community land trust.
