Purpose Built Communities held their 8th annual conference in Omaha this year, from October 2 – 4th. Warren Buffet, who co-founded Purpose Built Communities alongside Tom Cousins and Julian Robertson spoke towards the importance of governments and philanthropists stepping up to the plate to combat poverty.

“The American dream has succeeded in aggregate. We have failed, in my view, to create the equality of opportunity,” Buffett said Tuesday at the national Purpose Built Communities conference in Omaha.

Purpose Built Communities, a collective of philanthropists ranging from past Mayors to community planners, was founded in 2009 with a mission to create better outcomes for residents living in underserved areas. To date, Purpose Built has successfully provided free consulting services to 18 communities across the U.S., primarily in the Mid-West and along the East Coast.

Hello I found you on the internet through the Urban Land Conservancy site. I am looking for advice and assistance in conserving and preserving a 5 acre greenspace here in Atlanta GA. My little neighborhood is getting really built up and trendt the past few years. The Beltline promises more development and challenges very soon. Please let me know if you have ideas and contacts who can help me preserve a greenspace. Currently it part a community garden of sorts and part wooded natural habitat. Trees and open spaces are rapidly dissapearing here, so it is an important job for me to make an awesome conservation plan for the future.
Feel free to call or email me if you have helpful ideas.
