Avenue CDC Shifts Focus, Provides Disaster Recovery Services After Hurricane Harvey

On August 25th, Hurricane Harvey hit its peak intensity and make landfall in Texas as a category 4 hurricane. Harvey posed a major threat to those living in Texas and Louisiana, and caused massive damage primarily through catastrophic flooding and high winds. In final estimates, Harvey unleashed the greatest amount of rainfall (by a hurricane) in the continental U.S. since 1950.

It is hard to truly imagine what the residents of Texas and Louisiana are going through during this time. Our thoughts go out to each and every person facing these catastrophic conditions, and we want to encourage as much support as possible during these difficult times. As you all know, there are NUMEROUS ways to offer support for those affected by Hurricane Harvey, and here is one specific organization we know to be assisting storm victims.

Avenue CDC is a HUD certified counseling agency that has shifted it’s current focus to provide immediate disaster recovery counseling for Houstonians. According to their website, Avenue CDC will help Houstonians “navigate the process of applying for FEMA, filing insurance claims, understanding the do’s and don’ts of home repair, avoiding scams, managing finances in the midst of the transition and will also continue [their] foreclosure prevention counseling.”
