ULC Celebrates 15 Years of Equitable Community Development with Partners, Friends and Board Members
Thursday evening, Urban Land Conservancy had the honor of celebrating 15 years of equitable community development in the greater Denver region. We were overwhelmed by the incredible number of colleagues, partners and community members who attended the event to show their support. It isn’t every day your organization is able to celebrate their milestones, and we were honored to do so with friends by our side. The party was hosted at Union 27, a wedding collective and co-working space housed in the commercial space at the Avondale Apartments. Located in the West Colfax neighborhood, the 80 units of affordable housing are a part of ULC’s Mile High Vista development. The site is also home to the Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales Library, with a third and final phase of development in our immediate pipeline. We also invited Danette Hollowell and her band to play during the event, and their jazz/funk ensemble was a hit! Danette is a tenant of ULC’s development in NE Park Hill: Park Hill Station Apartments. Danette has been an incredible partner since we met her just over one year ago- and has an amazing story to tell.
In addition to celebrating at our Mile High Vista property, ULC was proud to announce that we are officially 30 properties strong! Earlier this summer, ULC’s Board accepted the real estate donation of a 31 acre campus in southeast Aurora, now known as Oxford Vista. The property will serve as the headquarters to our two anchor tenants – AmeriCorps NCCC SW Division (current) and Family Tree (future). ULC’s additional properties have spurred economic activity – leveraging over $600 million through development, created more than 600 new affordable rental units and ensured permanent affordability for future generations.
ULC was joined by many of our current and past Board members, many of whom ensured Urban Land Conservancy transitioned from an idea to a reality. Sam Gary, Tom Gougeon and Tim Howard joined the celebration, as each were integral to the founding of ULC in 2003. We would like to thank everyone again – we believe our success truly lies in the dedication of our staff, the vision and guidance of our Board and our partnership with the community. We look forward to 15 more unforgettable years!
